A growing movement
Since its launch, the statement has attracted several hundred signatories, including top athletes, association leaders, public figures, and citizens. The article notes that this campaign is already supported by iconic athletes such as Clément Richard (three-time Virtus 2025 world champion) and Thomas Girard (world champion in slalom, Super G, and combined para-alpine skiing).
A legacy in line with Paris 2024
As the article points out, the Paris 2024 Games paved the way by giving unprecedented visibility to adapted parasports. The inclusion of adapted sports in 2030 would extend this legacy and make the French Alps the first region to host these disciplines at the Winter Games.
Beyond the competition, this legacy would promote better integration of mental and psychological disabilities in local sports clubs, bringing about lasting change in society’s perception.
The publication of the opinion piece in L’Équipe is a major step forward. It gives new legitimacy to this campaign and provides it with national visibility. But to convince international and national authorities, every signature counts.
